Hilario Dominguez

Hilario Dominguez's journey from a Chicago classroom to the heart of local politics is a testament to his unwavering commitment to education and community advocacy. Born and raised in the 25th ward as a first-generation Mexican American, Hilario inherited a strong work ethic from his immigrant parents. His father's transition from a truck driver to a small business owner and his mother's tireless factory work and community volunteerism instilled in him the values of hard work and community service from an early age.

Hilario's educational path was deeply intertwined with the Chicago Public School system, where he received his own education and developed a passion for progressive causes. As a student, he stood alongside teachers and students when the CPS threatened to shutter schools and cut staff. His leadership during a student walkout and a march to CPS headquarters demanded equitable funding for all schools, setting the stage for his future activism.

Transitioning from a student advocate to a dedicated Special Education Teacher, Hilario made a profound impact on his students. He crafted innovative, standards-based plans to address both academic and social needs. But his influence extended beyond the classroom. He took the initiative to manage diverse learner compliance for over a hundred students with IEPS/504s.

In his current role as the Political Coordinator for the Chicago Teachers Union, Hilario Dominguez has played a pivotal role in mobilizing the union's members to support Mayor Brandon Johnson's campaign, leveraging his organizing skills to rally hundreds of dedicated volunteers. Moreover, Hilario's leadership shone brightly during this past spring's Springfield legislative session, where he masterfully coordinated efforts with strategic partners to secure the passage of four crucial pieces of legislation. As the manager of the union's endorsed campaigns, Hilario skillfully navigates the complex political landscape, ensuring that the voices and concerns of educators and workers are effectively represented.

Hilario Dominguez's impact on the Chicago political scene extends beyond his work with the Chicago Teachers Union. During pivotal electoral campaigns, Hilario served as a Volunteer Coordinator for Congressman Chuy Garcia's first race, State Representative Aaron Ortiz, and Cook County Commissioner Alma Anaya.
