Sergio Navarrete

Sergio Navarrete is an Attorney and serves as Associate Legislative Counsel at the Chicago City Council Committee on Economic, Capital, and Technology Development. He is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago, where he received a BA in Political Science in May 2014.

In August 2018, Mr. Navarrete began law school at UIC John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois with a goal to focus on the community. There he served as a clinical student for the Conflict Resolution Clinic where he acquired a mediation certification, helping draft and execute contracts in the Circuit Court of Cook County. He also served as a clinical student for the Veterans Legal Clinic focusing on assisting Veterans with acquiring improperly denied benefits through the United States Department of Veterans Affairs and military discharge upgrades with various military boards. Throughout law school, Mr. Navarrete also worked as a law clerk with Keating Law Offices, a personal injury firm particularly focused on pedestrian and traffic safety.

After graduating from law school, Mr. Navarrete joined several bar organizations focused on minority advocacy, including the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago (LAGBAC) and the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois (HLAI). It is his desire to continue advocacy and volunteer work with both the Latino and LGBTQ+ communities.
