Azalea Mejia

Azalea Mejia was born and raised in Chicago, while growing up she has lived in Pilsen, Little Village and Back of the Yards. In the beginning of her professional career she worked for well known community agencies such as El Hogar del Niño and Lawndale Christian Health Center which are located in the North Lawndale and Pilsen Community. Living in the Chicago area has helped her embrace diversity and be a well rounded person. She brings with her  a wide range of ideas to the table in order to improve life for others in  need in this world.

She is a State of Illinois employee for almost a decade and  has worked in non direct and direct work positions throughout her state of Illinois career.

She has her Masters in Human Services with a focus on social service administration. Azalea’s background working in the social services field and her educational background have equipped her to guide agencies in following state of Illinois standards so they can provide quality services to the people most in need.

Azalea enjoys volunteering in the city and being a change agent in order to transforms communities and enhance opportunities for the next generation. She also enjoys gardening, connecting with Mother Nature and doing the best she can to live life by example and help others that are in need today to make a better tomorrow.
