Alexander Perez

Alexander Perez is a dedicated professional passionate about community engagement and social equity. Hailing from the east side of Aurora, Illinois, Alexander's journey is marked by a commitment to education, public service, and advocacy.

After graduating from East Aurora High School, Alexander pursued higher education at Columbia College Chicago, earning his Bachelor of Arts (BA). He continued to excel academically and completed his MBA at Aurora University, demonstrating his dedication to personal growth and leadership.

For seven years, Alexander made impactful contributions to the public sector. He played a key role in the City of Aurora's Department of Communications within the Mayor's office, where he was recognized nationally with a NextGenGov "30 Under 30" award for his excellence as a public servant. Later, he became the Director of Community Affairs for the West Aurora School District, becoming the youngest person to ever hold this position, further deepening his connections with the local community.

One of the highlights of Alexander's career is his involvement in the cannabis industry as a social equity applicant and champion of equity and social justice within the new growing industry. His commitment to equitable access and opportunities in this burgeoning field reflects his dedication to social justice.

In 2017, Alexander made the move to Chicago, opening a new chapter in his career. He became actively engaged with advocacy organizations, including Chicago NORML and Equity and Transformation. Continuing his community based work that he started in Aurora.

Alexander Perez currently serves as one of the newly appointed Police District Councilors for the City of Chicago, representing the 2nd police district. In this role, he is dedicated to enhancing the well-being and safety of his community, actively ensuring that residents' voices are heard and their concerns addressed. Additionally, Perez is an active member of the Bronzeville Trail Task Force, a nonprofit organization committed to creating a 606-style bike path on the South Side, where he contributes his efforts to help bring this project to life.
