Cristina Botero
Sr. Manager, Reliability Programs, ComEd
Cristina is currently the Senior Manager for Distribution Reliability Programs at ComEd-Exelon. She leads a team of engineers in charge of optimizing the value of capital investments to improve the reliability of the electric distribution system for Illinois’ largest electric utility.
Prior to working for ComEd, Cristina held multiple roles with Tesla, BP, Argonne National Lab, MIT, and GE focusing on diverse energy technologies including oil refining, carbon capture, power generation, biofuels, and energy storage. Cristina also has hands-on manufacturing experience at BP’s largest oil refinery in Indiana and at Tesla’s battery Gigafactory in Nevada.
Cristina holds a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Dipl. -Ing (BSc+MSc) in Chemical and Bioengineering from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany, where she graduated summa cum laude. She is currently pursuing an MBA degree from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
Cristina is passionate about the energy industry. She is particularly interested in combining technology, policy, and strategy to remove barriers to integration of sustainable energy resources in an equitable manner while guaranteeing reliability of energy supply to those in need.
