Ruth Cruz

Assistant Director of Admissions, Roosevelt University

Ruth Cruz is an Assistant Director of Admissions at Roosevelt University where she provides counseling and advising to prospective new, transfer, and adult students regarding undergraduate and graduate programs.

Ruth has been recognized throughout her 16 year career in higher education for developing strategic partnerships and applying forward-thinking solutions. In her leadership roles, she has led and managed projects that drove initiatives to impact enrollment, developing strategies, re-evaluating processes, talent development, and managerial skills. Ruth is honored to work for a university that takes pride in assisting students from all backgrounds and promoting social justice.

Ruth’s leadership has helped first-generation students like herself achieve their education goals. Ruth shares a similar story as that of millions of immigrants in the United States; she was seven years old when she migrated from Mexico to the US with her mother, brother, and sister to reunite with her older brother and father. A proud student of Chicago Public Schools, Ruth holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Management from Robert Morris University.
Ruth’s passion to help others goes beyond education. She volunteers with everyone in her community: youth, teens, the elderly, immigrants, and adults. Ruth is passionate about empowering and guiding her community to connect with valuable resources. She is a volunteer at the 30th Ward Alderman office and represents the community in internal and external events. She was also an instrumental part of State Representative-#3rd District Eva Dina Delgado and Alderman Ariel R. Reboyras election campaigns.

Ruth has a wonderful family: a husband, and her daughter Elaine and her son Ricky. She is a woman of integrity; honest, determined, visionary, and passionate to serve her community.
