Fatima Garcia
Her tenure as a Tax Associate at an Am Law 100 firm and as a tax consultant at two Big 4 accounting firms afforded Ms. Garcia with a wide spectrum of tax knowledge and experience. Ms. Garcia has experience assisting businesses and individuals in planning, structuring and executing tax-efficient strategies. She has advised clients on the tax consequences of corporate and business transactions, including corporate and partnership formation, mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions.
Ms. Garcia is actively involved in organizing local efforts targeting the professional growth and development of minority students. Ms. Garcia is the founder of the Mi Camino Scholarship, which provides scholarships to Latina students seeking to pursue a legal career. Ms. Garcia currently serves as Region IX Deputy of the Hispanic National Bar Association (“HNBA”) and previously served as Co-Chair of the Latina Commission’s Pearls of Wisdom committee. Ms. Garcia was previously selected by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (“LCLD”) to participate in its Pathfinder program - a curriculum designed to connect high-potential, diverse attorneys who possess foundational leadership skills and relationship-building resources with LCLD member organizations. Additionally, Ms. Garcia has been appointed by the American Bar Association (“ABA”) Tax Section to the Public Service Fellowship Committee and has been named as an inaugural fellow of ABA Tax Section - Loretta Collins Argrett Fellowship.
Ms. Garcia has also been named as one of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America in Tax Law 2024 and named as 2024 Top Lawyer Under 40 by the HNBA. Ms. Garcia has been awarded the 2024 Lady in Leadership Award by Girls Run the World Aurora organization and previously awarded the Cynthia Latimer Phenomenal Woman of the Year in 2017. Ms. Garcia received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, her Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, and her LLM in Taxation from the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.
